Agriscience Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

Elko County School District proudly celebrated the ribbon-cutting of Spring Creek High School’s new Agriscience Building last week.

The new 4,800-square-foot facility will expand hands-on career and technical education (CTE) opportunities for more than 300 students each day, supporting pathways in animal science, plant science, food science and sustainability.

“This building represents years of community support and investment in our students’ future,” said Superintendent CJ Anderson. “It honors the legacy of Dennis ‘Digger’ Digenan, a beloved educator who helped shape the foundation of agricultural education in our district.”

Speakers at the ceremony included current Silver Sage FFA President Ruby Buzzetti, Spring Creek Middle School Principal and original Silver Sage FFA President Salli McDermott, Director of the Nevada Department of Agriculture JJ Goicoechea, and Superintendent Anderson. Each shared their gratitude for the program’s long-standing success—and the educators, past and present, who made it possible.

The project was made possible thanks to the support of many valued partners, including the Nevada Department of Agriculture, Nevada Cattlemen and Cattlewomen’s Association, Nevada Farm Bureau, Elko County Farm Bureau, the Nevada Department of Education, and the ECSD Board of Trustees.

Constructed by MGM Construction, the facility was funded through remaining Pay-As-You-Go resources and more than $700,000 in state grants.
