“Congratulations to Liliana Howell for being this month's "Spartan of the Month" for Communities In Schools at SCHS. Liliana is a 9th grader & was nominated by Ms. Iverson for being such a hard-working student in class. She is always willing to help others around her and has a positive attitude. She is very talented, athletic, and does well in all her classes. Ms. Iverson was also very impressed with her vast knowledge of music (song names & artist) 🙂 Keep up the great work Liliana and continue being a great example to others around you. We are lucky to have you here at SCHS with us! Liliana was awarded a Spartan of the Month yard sign to display proudly at her house & a $50 gift card to her favorite restaurant so that she could go celebrate with her family."

The Nevada School Climate/Social Emotional Learning Survey (NV-SCSEL) is used to gather student feedback about their experiences at school. The NV-SCSEL surveys are administered to students in grade 5 and up throughout the state of Nevada during the fall of each school year. The NV-SCSEL surveys measure students’ perceptions of key aspects of school climate, including physical and emotional safety, relationships, and cultural and linguistic competence, as well as students’ social and emotional competencies. The survey is an opportunity for students to anonymously share their experiences of their school’s climate with their school, school district, and NDE. To learn more about the survey, visit nevadaschoolclimate.org. Elko County School District will be administering the survey to students (5th -12th grade) between November 20th and December 14th , 2023. Parents can preview the survey here: https://5il.co/28q0d Questions on the survey are optional. Students can choose not to answer any question they do not want to answer. Parents can opt their child(ren) out of participating in the survey by contacting their child(ren)’s school. If you have any questions about the NV-SCSEL survey, please contact your child(ren)’s school.

Parents/Guardians: By now you may have received a Free & Reduced Lunch Application from your child's school. To clarify, meals for the 2023-2024 school year are FREE for all. However, it’s important that all families still fill out the application; it provides important data that allows schools to receive additional funding and benefits to support students and teachers. Only one form per household is required. For your convenience it can be filled out online: http://elkocsd.schoollunchapp.com
