WELLS — On April 19, the Wells baseball team crushed Coleville in a doubleheader by run-rule margins of 14-4 through five innings and 15-0 in three.
Game One
Wells plated five runs in the first, five in the second and four in the home half of the fifth.
Junior Tristen Zimmeran hit 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run.
Junior Luis Garcia (two runs), sophomore Charley Peterson (run scored) and freshman Michael Aguilar all went 1-for-1.
Freshman Landon Hall and junior Teagan Calton each batted 1-for-2 and scored two runs and drove in one apiece.
Without hits, junior Gage Uhlig and senior Miguel Martinez each finished with an RBI and a run scored.
Senior Cesar Beruman crossed twice, and freshman Dentin Allen and junior Adam Aggleston came around once each.
On the mound, Peterson picked up the win and allowed one unearned run on two hits with 10 strikeouts against no walks over four innings.
In relief, Zimmerman got the save and gave up three runs — two earned — on two hits with three Ks and a free pass across one frame.
Game Two
In the second game, the Leopards erupted for 14 runs in the bottom of the first and added one in the third.
On the bump, Calton threw a perfect game — facing the minimum of nine batters — and struck out eight in three innings.
Martinez hit 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
Berumen (home run, two RBI and two runs), Calton (RBI double) and Allen (two RBI and a run) all finished 1-for-1.
Uhlig (three RBI and two runs), Aguilar (two RBI and a run) and Zimmerman (two runs) closed at 1-for-2.
Without knocks, Hall and Peterson came in twice apiece — Hall driving in one run and scoring another.
