February STARS Announced

Lindsey Lee, Jennifer Slusher, and Michelle Beasley were selected as the Elko County School District’s February Staff and Teachers Achieving Results with Students, or STARS, award recipients. These outstanding individuals demonstrate dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to students and the community.

Lee Group

Lindsey Lee, Teacher, Flag View Intermediate School
Lee, a math teacher at Flag View Intermediate School, was nominated by student Payton Perez and an anonymous parent.

Lee is praised for her dedication and positive attitude, going above and beyond to ensure her students feel safe, supported and valued.

Perez described Lee as "nice and kind," always helping with math and making the classroom feel welcoming. A parent commended Lee’s willingness to meet and support their child's needs, saying, "She really cares about her students."

Slusher Group

Jennifer Slusher, Registrar, Northside Elementary School
Slusher, the school registrar at Northside Elementary School, was nominated by colleague Abigail Parkin, who described Slusher as an "irreplaceable part of the school community."

As a registrar, Slusher ensures that student records are maintained accurately and with care.

"Mrs. Slusher's positive attitude is contagious. She is truly a light to all who know her — staff, students and parents alike. She takes on every task, no matter how big or small, with a smile and a willingness to help," said Parkin. "She is a great example of teamwork, always ready to take on additional responsibilities. Whether covering lunch duties, assisting with parent inquiries or managing school records, she performs each role with efficiency and kindness."

Beasley Group

Michelle Beasley, Fourth-Grade Teacher, Spring Creek Elementary School
Beasley, a fourth-grade teacher at Spring Creek Elementary School, was nominated by a colleague who asked to remain anonymous.

According to the nomination, one of Beasley’s "remarkable qualities is her passion for teaching, which is infectious." The nomination states that Beasley "has an innate ability to inspire her students to develop a love for learning, making education both meaningful and relevant."

The nomination continues to explain Beasley excels at building students' confidence and helping them uncover their strengths.

"Michelle has a unique talent for recognizing each individual's potential and finding ways to nurture it."
